Threadwise – AI Comments for YouTube Effective date: September 28, 2026

Threadwise is a browser extension that helps you write YouTube comments using Google Gemini. This policy explains what data the extension handles and why.

Summary

• Threadwise has no servers. We do not collect, store, sell, or share your data.
• There are no analytics, tracking, or ads.
• Threadwise never posts comments for you. You review and post everything yourself.

Data stored on your device

These are saved in your browser’s local extension storage:

• your Threadwise license key
• your Gemini API key
• your preferences (tone, length, language, “About you” text, model, Deep mode)
• the list of Gemini models your key can use

This data stays on your device and is deleted when you remove the extension.

Data sent to Google

When you click Write with AI, Threadwise sends a request directly from your browser to the Google Gemini API (generativelanguage.googleapis.com), using your own API key. The request contains:

• the video’s title, channel, description, tags, and category
• a transcript excerpt, when available
• comments visible on the page, and the comment you are replying to, if any
• any draft text you typed in the comment box
• your writing preferences and “About you” text
• the video’s URL, only when Deep mode is on

Google processes this data under the Gemini API Terms and the Google Privacy Policy. Threadwise has no access to it after it is sent.

Data sent to Gumroad

Threadwise licenses are sold through Gumroad. When you activate a license, and about once a week after that, Threadwise sends your license key to Gumroad’s license API (api.gumroad.com) to confirm it is valid. Nothing else is sent. Gumroad handles your purchase under the Gumroad Privacy Policy.

Data read from YouTube

To understand the current video, Threadwise reads the YouTube page you’re on and that video’s public page data. This happens only on youtube.com, only in your browser, and is used only to build the request above.

Children

Threadwise is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above will be updated.
